2021 ILXCTF.com XC Season Awards - Boys Newcomer XC Runners of the Year

The following runners were chosen as the 2021 ILXCTF.com Boys Newcomer Cross Country Runners of the year. Three runners were chosen one each by classification.

Class 3A

Congratulations to Dylan Maloney of Plainfield South as the ILXCTF.com 3A Boys Newcomer XC Runner of the Year. Maloney was the clear choice in this category after running 15:21 to finish 76th in the Class 3A State Meet. The freshman was the team’s fourth runner on the Plainfield South tea in that race that finished seventh. He will be one of the reasons why the Cougars could be one of the top 3A teams in 2022. Zach Thoman of O’Fallon was the only other runner considered in this category. This freshman ran 15:27 to finish 88th in the 3A State Meet.

Class 2A

Congratulations to Evan Nosek of Kaneland High School as the ILXCTF.com 2A Boys Newcomer of the Year. Nosek was a clear-cut choice in this classification having run the fastest freshman time of 15:18 to earn all-state honors in finishing 21st in the Class 2A State Meet. Nosek had the fastest 2A time for a freshman in that race by 49 seconds. There were no other runners that were considered.

Class 1A

Congratulations to Ben Gibson of Latin School in Chicago as the ILXCTF.com 1A Boys Newcomer XC Runner of the Year. Gibson was the team’s third runner finishing 20th running 15:29. Finishes of fourth in the Latin Regional and eighth at the Lisle Sectional led up to his state performance.
