Sources that wished to remain anonymous reported to ILXCTF.com on May 22 that the family of Dunlap All-State Student/Athlete Campbell Petersen would be relocating out of the Dunlap area this summer.

ILXCTF.com received confirmation first from Dunlap Coach Chris Friedman that Petersen would be transferring but did not know where. Naperville North Coach Dan Iverson confirmed that Petersen, who will be a sophomore this fall, will be attending Naperville North.

“Apparently, they are moving to the Chicago area this summer and have bought a house in our attendance area. She is registered to attend Naperville North in the fall and our summer camp this summer,” Iverson said. “I have spoken to her mother recently, and it’s my understanding that they did not want to announce it until after the state meet so as not to take away from Dunlap’s awesome track season.”

The Petersen family while looking for a new home in the Naperville area visited Naperville North and received a school tour from Athletic Director Bob Quinn. It was at that point that Iverson was called out of class by Quinn to meet the mother and father along with Campbell for the first time.

In her freshman season at Dunlap, Petersen finished second in the 2A State Cross Country Meet that helped Dunlap win the 2A team title. Petersen finished second in the 2A 3200 Meter Run and then won the 2A 1600 Meter Run at the Girls State Track & Field Championships on May 19. Petersen was part of Dunlap’s second 2A State Track & Field team title.

Naperville North won both the 3A Girls Cross Country and Track & Field State Championships in the past school year as well as finishing second last December at the Nike Cross Nationals

“I wish Campbell much success on her move to Naperville North,” said Friedman in a statement e-mailed to ILXCTF.com on Sunday. “Coach Iverson's program has a well-deserved reputation for success and growth.”
